Archeologie: leuk voor iedereen!

Archeologen wordt tegenwoordig wel eens verweten dat zij de geschiedenis voor zichzelf claimen en anderen geen inspraak geven in wat er mee moet gebeuren. Persoonlijk vind ik dat kul, het huidige archeologische bestel lijkt er soms wel op aan te sturen dat de archeologen zelf de laatsten zijn die zich met archeologische resten mogen bemoeien, maar goed, publieke opinie en politieke spin lopen wel vaker uit de pas met de werkelijkheid. In Amerika (waar anders...), het lichtend voorbeeld van onze laatste paar kabinetten, hebben ze hier nu een antwoord op gevonden. We hebben helemaal geen archeologen meer nodig om te beslissen wat waardevol is en wat niet (via Pharyngula):
